Branding: YSL

YSL always has the most stunning packaging. Heavy duty and wondrously shiny.
Collecting some YSL pieces is one of my longer term goals.

Brown Eyed Girls: Sixth Sense

Beautifully shot music video. I've screencapped some of my favorite scenes below.
Click here if you want to watch it, it has a fantastic beat.

- I got wall stickers! These go over my bed and match the colors on my bedding very nicely. They look a bit like they're swimming. It makes me quite happy to look at them every morning.

- I went to August 8 this week with the Boy.
Stupendously fun. The sponge cake is wonderfully fluffy and delicious.

- I color coded my clothing this morning (I really need to get the rest of it up here).
My love of neutrals are quite obvious.

- I went to a friend's birthday dinner at Earl's. Lovely restaurant but questionable clientele (minus our table of awesome, of course) composed primarily of frat boy types and girls who didn't understand that dresses aren't supposed to be a second skin.

However, they did serve the best sandwich I've ever eaten.

- Toronto is really beautiful at night. It's a shame my phone captures it so poorly.

Sunday Survey: September 25th, 2011

01 Mood: Quite good, actually. I've had a productive couple of days. Granted, I nearly had a heart attack when I inputted all my deadlines on Google calendar but I've been uncharacteristically productive nonetheless!

02 Last Movie I saw: Kick-ass. If I say I wanted a daughter like Kick-ass, would that make me a crazy assassin in a Batman suit?

03 What I’m watching: Bones Season 4. I used to love this show but I haven't seen it in a few years. I'm working Netflix through a US IP Proxy (damn that makes me sound smart) so a new world has now opened.

Us Netflix > Canadian Netflix. Why do we never get the nice stuff?

04 Best thing about this weekend: I had a great day in downtown Toronto with the Boy. That pulled pork sandwich I had for dinner was the best thing that ever existed. I giddily told the Boy later that "If God made a sandwich to eat everyday, it would be that sandwich"

05 What makeup are you wearing today:

Boi-ing concealer, Mac blush creme in Ladyblush and Korres lip butter in pomegranate.

Seriously, the only thing that ever changes is my lip product

06 What skincare am I using today:

Morning: Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser

Night:
Makeup Remover: Bioderma
Cleanser: Cetaphil
Moisturizer: Neostrata Smoothing Lotion Level 1 on face, Etival clarifying moisturizer on chin
Extra: DDF sulfur mask, Mario Badescu drying lotion.

07 What am I wearing today:

Black jeans from the Gap (I almost misspelled that as Grap), a white silky top from Wilfred, a lavendar sweater from H&M and a long silver necklace with a ladybug watch pendent on it.

08 What am I reading: Nothing. There's fluff and dust in my brain, it probably looks like the inside of a vacuum

09 Current Makeup Lust:
Lancome lipstick in Rose Veil. The packaging is just stunning. I'm abstaining from spending right now. T_T It's so painful

10 Listening to: Bing Crosby's classic christmas album. I listen to Christmas music pretty much all year around. I always have amazing Christmases. The music makes me think of downtown Toronto, snow and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks.

Mmmm Starbucks.

11 Clothing Lust: I'm looking for something like these two. The first one is from Modcloth (I saved the picture from a while back so this is no longer available) and the second one is from Miu Miu. Quite obviously, this is out of the question so I'm looking for a non-sparkly and faaaar cheaper dupe.

12 Haircare Lust: None.

13 Skincare Lust: A 50000000 ml jug of Bioderma because one of the things that brings me joy is soaking Shiseido cotton pads in it and relaxing in the shower.

14 Current obsessions:

Warding off my depression.

15 Aim for this week: Attempt some design mock-ups on Illustrator for thesis

Shopper's Drug Mart, you are my overlord

I love Shopper's Drug Mart. I've probably spent half my school life squandering away at Shoppers, playing with testers, bartering with myself ("If you don't buy this, I will give you hot chocolate later") and checking out any sales that will entice my Asian Senses.

This week, they had a sale on two of my favorite brands: Bioderma (25%) and Neostrata (20%).

I loitered around playing with testers before picking up my usual suspects and going on my merry way.

Purchased:

Bioderma Crealine cleanser

I always talk about this because it's amazing and I love it to death. I'm running out of my current bottle. I may Ebay it next time to get the fabled (I believe it to be a myth) 500ml from Europe.

The last sentence sounds very pretentious and I swear I didn't do it on purpose.

Neostrata Smoothing Cream Level 1

My old one went bad (the cream became very thin like skim milk) so I had to pick up a new one. This one is much better, the acid is well balanced and the texture is wonderfully fluffy.

La Roche Posay Physiological Shampoo

While my Asian hair does not need much taking care of, I am very picky with shampoos. Most shampoos smell too strong for my liking and I hate that heavy shampoo smell (I'm looking at you, Dove) that lingers after. I also run into the issue that any trace of shampoo residue can sometimes irritate the skin on my neck.

La Rochey Posay makes really nice skincare products so they're not known for their haircair. However, their shampoo really is excellent. It comes in a huge tube (should last for ages) and it cleanses your hair without making it feel greasy or stripped. It's extremely easy to wash off and the smell is extremely light and clean.

Win!

Angela FAQ: What is X-urbia?

Ah! The little known and very unpopular Angela FAQ.

Today, I shall answer the question that many people have been asking me:

Why is my alias X-urbia?

1) It's uncommon and I don't run into the danger of being called Angelbear2011
2) It is named after my favorite editorial of all time

Nothing about this editorial makes logical sense
It's slightly maniacal
The women wear clown wigs, cheerios are swallowed like pills and there's a plume of blood-red smoke blowing out of a careening plane.

It's about alienation and monotony.
It's about creating a world where shopping carts and cheerios are made to look out of place but smoking through a face covered with metal stickers is the most natural thing in the world.

It's about being in your own world and doing whatever you like in it
